Men’s Health Physiotherapy
Many men suffer from pelvic floor muscle weakness. Common symptoms include:
- Leaking urine with activity, for example, running, jumping, coughing and sneezing
- A sudden and urgent need to pass urine
- Leakage of stool from the back passage
- Erectile dysfunction ( the pelvic floor muscle helps to maintain erections)
Factors leading to incontinence or weakness:
- Prostate surgery
- Long term cough
- Constipation/straining to empty your bowels
- Being overweight
- Pelvic trauma or some surgery
- Repeated heavy lifting
If possible, each patient is individually assessed prior to treatment commencing and a detailed plan of action is designed that is unique to each patient. Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercises, Bladder Training & Whole Body Exercise Prescription are all part of Prostate Cancer recovery & the needs of each man may be very unique so one-on-one planning is essential.
